Patient has diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome confirmed by skin biopsy performed by dermatologist in the past.
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a group of hereditary connective tissue disorders characterized by defects of collagen in the body. Collagen is a tough, fibrous protein, that plays an essential role in holding together, strengthening, and providing elasticity to bodily cells and tissues. Due to defects of collagen, primary EDS symptoms and findings include unusually loose, thin, stretchy (elastic) skin; and excessive fragility of the skin, blood vessels, and other bodily tissues and membranes.
