What can I do now as I think I’ve broken my nasal bones?
Nose deformity
Jun 18, 2019
Thank you for your question.  If you were within 2 weeks of your injury, a surgery to relocate your broken bones might be possible. Since you are now 3 weeks out, I would recommend waiting until 6 months at which time a rhinoplasty can be performed. I hope this helps  Take care,Dr M
Could I have a closed rhino or will a nose filler look good with my nose?
Rhinoplasty versus filler
Jun 18, 2019
Thank you for your question and pictures. I feel that you would be better served by a rhinoplasty. I do not think that fillers would be a good option for you. I would recommend an in-person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. I hope that helps!Take care!
Pulsed dye laser recommended 4 weeks apart. Any detriment to waiting longer than that?
Pulsed dye laser
May 6, 2019
Thank you for your question. In my experience, I would see no issue in waiting 8 weeks between treatments. Try to prevent getting a suntan in the area being treated prior to your pulsed dye laser session as this will have an effect on your treatment.
I have sudden fluid in one breast and other symptoms. Should I get a removal without en bloc?
Fluid around textured implant
May 6, 2019
Thank you for your question. I would recommend getting an ultrasound to determine the amount and location of the fluid and to look for any irregularities of the capsule surrounding the implant. If possible, the fluid can be removed under ultrasound guidance and studied. The results of the studies can then guide what the next steps should be.
Can my ears look normal again before my wedding in October?
Ear lobe repair after gauges
May 6, 2019
Thank you for your question and congrats on your upcoming wedding!I think that it is very likely that your earlobes can look normal again. Repair of stretched earlobes is getting more and more common in my practice. I can usually perform the repair under local anesthetic in the office.  The earlobe can usually get re-pierced in about 3-6 months (preferably at a site not along the repair line).
I just had my breast augmentation done yesterday. What does SRX mean?
Type of implant
Apr 22, 2019
Thank you for your question.Allergan implants have 3 degrees of implant cohesiveness or “gumminess.”
Their cohesive implant is the most cohesive, followed by the soft-touch implant, and then the responsive gel implantFor an SRX implant:The “S” stands for smoothThe “R” refers to responsive silicone gelThe “X” refers to Extra-Full profileAn SSX implant would be a smooth, soft-touch, extra-full implant.I would recommend discussing this further with your plastic surgeon.
I’m 32 years old 5 ft 1 and about 189lbs. My cup size is a 36H. Would I qualify for a breast r
Breast Reduction Candidate
Apr 22, 2019
Thank you for your question. It sounds like you could be a good candidate for a breast reduction as long as you are healthy and don’t smoke.  In my experience, most patients who have a breast reduction performed are very satisfied.  After years of back, shoulder, and neck pain, reducing the size of the breasts usually provides a lot of relief.  I would recommend consulting with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area.
How realistic is a breast lift without implants on breasts that have completely lost volume? (
Breast lift with or without implants
Apr 22, 2019
A breast lift corrects droopiness of the breast and makes the breast appear more perky.  An augmentation adds volume and helps correct the deflated appearance of the breast that often occurs with pregnancy.  These procedures can be done alone or in combination.  It really depends on your unique anatomy and for the look that you desire. A lift can be done through a circle incision around the areola, with a vertical scar, or with an anchor pattern.  The best option for you really depends on h…

Surgery for stretched earlobes
Apr 22, 2019
Surgery for stretched earlobes is becoming more and more common.  I typically perform the repair in my office under a local anesthetic.  I would look for a Plastic Surgeon Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Is mesh ever recommended with abdominoplasty/tummy tuck without a hernia present?
Is mesh ever recommended for a tummy tuck
Apr 22, 2019
In my practice, I rarely use mesh for a tummy tuck.  Only in very severe cases of diastasis (separation of the rectus muscles) or in cases where a hernia is present would I consider mesh placement.
Why not start with a mastectomy?
Breast augmentation with lift
Apr 15, 2019
Thank you for your question.  While we can get very good results with breast reconstructions after mastectomy for breast cancer or for a genetic predisposition to breast cancer, I would not recommend a mastectomy for cosmetic reasons.  During an augmentation or lift with implants, the breast tissue that you have provides coverage which reduces the chance of rippling.  Also, a mastectomy also removes important sensory nerves to the skin and nipple along with the breast tissue.  This would lea…
Is it possible to have a breast augmentation if I have a VNS implanted in my chest?
Breast implants
Apr 15, 2019
Thank you for your question.  It is usually possible to have breast augmentation with a VNS implant in place.  It would be helpful to have the operative report from your VNS implant, to see exactly where and how it was placed.
What are the odds of teardrop/anatomical implants shifting/rotating into an unnatural position
Teardrop implants
Feb 20, 2019
Thank you for your question. I would highly recommend that you avoid the use of a teardrop/anatomical implant. It is true that these implants can rotate, which can cause a deformity that would require another surgery to correct. The anatomical implants on the market have a texture on their surface. There is recent evidence that having these textured implants in place over time can be associated with a rare  type of lymphoma called ALCL. Although this appears to be rare, I would recommend s…

Breast Augmentation – picking a surgeon
Feb 20, 2019
Thank you for your question. Picking your surgeon is one of the most important factors to consider when deciding on having a breast augmentation. It is important to make sure that your surgeon is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).  Try to make sure your surgeon has a good reputation in the community.  It is helpful if you have a trusted family member or friend who has been taken care of by the sur…
Do abdominal muscles always need to be internally stitched with abdominoplasty?
Diastasis repair
Feb 14, 2019
Thank you for your question. Everyone’s anatomy is different. Some women have no diastasis (no seperation of the rectus muscles) while other women have very significant diastasis. In my experience, most women who have been pregnant have some degree of diastasis. In these cases, I feel that repairing the muscle (diastasis repair) is an important aspect of a tummy tuck. It gives women an internal corset which helps avoid a “pouchiness” that you can sometimes see if it is not done  I hope th…
