Is this a suture underneath my skin?
? suture extruding after Rhinoplasty
Oct 25, 2023
Yes – it looks like a Prolene or Nylon suture. If so, it won’t dissolve, and should be removed in case it gets infected.
That shouldn’t be a problem – Many surgeons (including me) never use such sutures, for this and other reasons). I use a suture that will dissolve in 6 months (PDS suture), for Rhinoplasty, as well as some short-stay sutures. Scarring will hold the cartilage in place, and this should be fairly straightforward to remove, just in the surgeon’s chair. I suggest you go back to…
How long after a labiaplasty surgery can you get rhinoplasty?
No delay needed between Labiaplasty and Rhinoplasty
Sep 27, 2023
There is no reason to delay your Rhinoplasty after a Labiaplasty.
The two operations could even be performed “at the same time”, or at the same hospital visit.
How long for heavy face wear after rhinoplasty?
Heavy safety goggles
Sep 26, 2023
I like to protect the nose from the “foot-prints” of spectacles for 6 weeks after Rhinoplasty. Most patients need 14 days after surgery before they are back to full time work, and gym/running/heavy lifting.
I patients need to wear spectacles or goggles, then I give them the plastic post-op cast to take home after I remove it on Day 7, and they can wear that to protect the nose, under their spectacles. In your case, I would probably wait about another 7 days, then have you wear that under the…
Worried rhinoplasty could worsen the bulbous tip because I get keloid scarring, is it a good
Bulbous tip and Keloid
Sep 25, 2023
I don’t think you have anything to worry about,The reduction of your bulbous tip is done by trimming and folding your lower lateral cartilages, and thinning the overlying skin.
I think that is best done with an Open Rhinoplasty.Keloid scarring only occurs on incisions, and almost never occurs on the columellar incision of an Open Rhinoplasty. The scar is usually barely visible.Injecting steroid into the columellar incision before closure can further reduce that miniscule risk.
Could I make my nose longer with a rhinoplasty?
Surgery for Short nose
Sep 22, 2023
Your nose can be made longer with a Rhinoplasty. The ability of the skin to stretch can limit the amount of lengthening possible, but it is easier in your situation than a post-op over-shortened nose, as your nasal skin won’t be scarred. You will likely need a septal extension graft (taken from nasal septal cartilage deep inside your nose.)
22 year old female, why is my Adam’s apple so prominent & why does it have 2 bumps?
Cis-female with prominent Adam’s Apple
Sep 10, 2023
You have a long thin neck, so the normal features of your laryngeal skeleton are visible.
The top prominence seems to be your Thyroid lamina (the Adam’s apple). It can be reduced, as we do for trans-women.
The lower prominence is probably your cricoid cartilage, which cannot be interfered with surgically. It might have an overlying thyroid gland remnant, such as a Pyramidal lobe, or even a high-riding or prominent isthmus – either of which can be excised. (An ultrasound and a clinical…
Bump on one side of the nose tip after 1 year of rhinoplasty
Bump near nasal tip
Sep 6, 2023
That little bump will probably be a fold of the underlying lower lateral cartilage, called a “bossa”.It is of no importance. It is barely noticeable on the photos that you have shown. It is probably something you can feel and not see, unless someone looks closely, and no-one looks that closely up your nostrils!Trying to remove it can create a hollow instead, and it shouldn’t get worse now, since it hqas been a year since your Rhinoplasty.
