Would Awake RAF neck/chin/jaw Liposuction using Necktite and/or Facetite give me a defined jaw and no do
defining the jaw line
Mar 9, 2020
I echo some of the other surgeons, in that it is difficult to fully assess a picture. However, I think you are are the right track and that submental lipo and some skin tightening will help. On initial glance and without seeing the entirety of your face, you may also need augmentation of your chin. This can be done in several ways and I would discuss with your plastic surgeon. The chin position must always be examined in context of the jawline and neck.
Facetite for jowls and under chin/neck?
FaceTite
Mar 9, 2020
FaceTite can certainly be very effective in this area. I would not expect full correction. You may be better served with a face lift. Depending on the particulars of your situation, I would try Facetite and give it 6-12 months. If you are not satisfied at that point, I would consider a facelift.
Can over-the-counter pain medications be used in place of prescription pain medications right after brea
pain after breast reduction
Feb 10, 2020
Like a lot of things, pain is very much an individual patient specific thing. I often have patients that do not need narcotic pain medication. Quite frankly, that is my preference. The sooner you can be off of prescription medication the better. Having said that, in the first week you may find you need it, and I would not hesitate to use it in the immediate post operative period.
Why is wound separation common during breast reduction recovery and how can it be prevented?
wound healing and breast reduction
Feb 10, 2020
You are correct that wound healing problems are not uncommon with breast reduction surgery. With breast reduction surgery the breast are completely rearranged and the blood supply to the breast parenchyma and the overlying skin can be altered. Additionally swelling after surgery can further compromise blood flow temporarily. It is these temporary changes in blood flow to certain areas (often the T zone due to the multiple incisions) that set up an environment that leads to...
Do I need a breast reduction or a lift —or both?
breast reduction vs lift
Feb 10, 2020
So it is difficult to truly know with out examining you. Mosts states have height and weight requirements to determine insurance eligibility for a breast reduction. I would want to know what that amount was in you to know whether I thought that would be reasonable for your body habitus and goals.
Otherwise,
Some of it is really semantics. With most lifts there is a slight reduction/removal of breast tissue, in a breast reduction there is just more.
You minimally need the...
Will having a reduction help healing after a car accident?
arm pain and breast reduction
Feb 10, 2020
The most important thing to know is why you have persistent arm pain. Without knowing the cause, no one can give you an educated opinion as to whether reducing the size of your breast may be of benefit.
Traditional complaints that a breast reduction addresses are: neck pain, upper back pain, grooving from bra straps, moisture and skin changed between and beneath the breasts.
Hope this helps.
What do you think is an appropriate size to go down to achieve my goal photo?
Breast size
Feb 10, 2020
So when I counsel my patients on breast reduction, one of the first things I tell them is that there is no standard in bra size. So a 34 DD at one store is not the same as a 34 DD at another. Additionally, surgeons can change a lot about your breasts, but we cannot change how wide your breasts are. We have to use your breast footprint, your goals, and your body habitus to help guide our target breast size. Reducing your breasts, and lifting them will not change...
If I were to get a breast reduction/lift can I keep the size of my areola?
areola size
Feb 10, 2020
As mentioned previously, generally the areola is reduced to better match the smaller breasts. There are some technical considerations that your surgeon will go over with you. I would expect most surgeons would think it best to slightly reduce the areola in order to perform the breast reduction with one of the standard skin patterns. You can certainly emphasize that you want to maximize you areola size, and your plastic surgeon should be able to go over all of the pros...
Would I be considered for a breast reduction surgery?
breast reduction in young patients
Feb 10, 2020
The age to perform breast reductions is slightly controversial. Ideally we like patients to have reached maturity and finished developing. It is also important for patients to be able to make a truly informed decision. However, some surgeons will do breast reduction surgery on patients younger than 18. For me I have to weigh their daily limitations related to their breast size, how it is affecting their growth and development. I recognize that...
Can a breast reduction be used in conjunction with lift and new implants?
breast reduction with implants
Feb 10, 2020
It is not uncommon to experience what you have going on with your breasts. Sometimes even with significant amounts of breast tissue, the quality and position of the breast tissue can make achieving superior pol fullness challenging. This is where an implant comes in to play. By placing the implant, then reducing and rearranging the the breast and elevating the nipple position with a reduction excellent results can be obtained. Sometimes this may be a stage...
What can I do to permanently reduce breast size?
recurrent large breasts
Feb 10, 2020
Some women with true macromastia will continue to have issues with large breast. The breasts are composed of glandular and fat tissue. In some, the gland remains super sensitive and will respond with hypertrophy to the smallest hormonal stimuli. The fat in the breast will hypertrophy with weight gain. Things like birth control, pregnancy, medications may contribute. So as long as there is breast tissue, there is the possibility for recurrence in a minority of...
Nipple discharge and itchiness 4yrs post breast reduction - What is happening? How do I fix this? (photo
nipple discharge
Feb 10, 2020
Nipple discharge can be anything from something very benign to something not related to your breast at all. So you should see your primary to make sure there are no significant medical things going on. Some woman, have a chronic inflammatory condition of the nipples called ductal ectasia (more common in smokers), eczema can affect the nipples, and the list goes on. So make sure there are no hormonal or medical issues, then make sure there are no primary breast problems,...
For very large breast reduction is liposuction needed in axillary region?
Breast Reduction
Feb 10, 2020
Technically speaking when performing a breast reduction, the surgeon should only remove breast tissue. For many women, especially who have large breasts and a little "good living" as I like to say under there arms, this can leave a fullness under the arms. I personally will revise any dog ears with no additional charge as these can happen from time to time. If liposuction is needed to address axillary fullness (side boob) then that is a cosmetic add on to the case. I...
Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and recurring abdominal hernia repair in high performance athletes?
abdominoplasty and hernia surgery
Jan 30, 2020
This is tough to answer without knowing the specifics of your situation. As both a plastic surgeon and a general surgeon the size and extent of your hernia are very important. If it is a very small non symptomatic defect , then most techniques and approaches will be effective. If it is a large hernia, you need the combination of a good general surgeon and ideally minimally invasive techniques and a seasoned plastic surgeon to get the best functional and cosmetic out come.
Do tummy tucks take care of and get rid of lumps and loose skin due to liposuction?
tummy tucks and contour abnormalities
Jan 30, 2020
So a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty can certainly help with contour abnormalities from liposuction. It depends on where they are and whether the skin and fat remaining after abdominoplasty are affected. A trained plastic surgeon should be able to give you a good idea about rather or not they can make the corrections you need with a tummy tuck. Sometimes additional lipo may be the answer or even the addition of fat via fat grafting.
