Unhappy with results of mini tummy tuck. What should I do?
mini vs. full tummy tuck
Oct 27, 2015
Thank you for your question. First, I would recommend that you be patient. You are only 3 months out from surgery and have not achieved your final result. The decision for full vs. mini tummy tuck depends on your muscle anatomy, extra skin above or below the belly button, and the extent of fatty tissue. I would recommend waiting at least 6 months before you assess your result and discuss any areas of dissatisfaction with your surgeon. At that point you can make...
Do I need to quit my morning cup of coffee prior to Lipo?
preoperative instructions
Oct 27, 2015
I would recommend contacting your surgeons office for their recommendation, as it depends on the type of anesthesia you are having and the time of the day that your procedure will be performed.
I'm looking to get BA w/ lift, BBL, tummy tuck, and nose surgery. Can I have these done
how much is too much
Oct 27, 2015
I would recommend getting a few consults with board-certified plastic surgeons. In general, we try to limit combined surgical procedures to 6 hours. You may need to have separate procedures in order to safely address all of your areas of concern. I would recommend prioritizing your areas of concern and addressing the top 2-3 areas that bother you the most.
Full TT w Lipo and BR on 11-6. Is Tramadol safe?
preoperative instructions with mommy makeover
Oct 27, 2015
I an unaware of a reason to come off Tramadol, but I would refer you to your surgeon and ask him or her the reason for their decision. More importantly is the issue of your cold. I would recommend being in close contact with your surgeon and their anesthesia team in order to determine whether it is safe to proceed with your surgery.
Should I lose weight before my consultations?
Mommy makeover consultation
Oct 27, 2015
I often see patients in the early stages of planning a mommy makeover, and commonly, the patient anticipates additional weight loss in the near future. I believe that it can be helpful to you to see a few surgeons in consultation and start planning your journey. I would advise reconsulting with your surgeon if you do loose a substantial amount of weight as the surgical plan may change.
When will the swelling from my tummy tuck stop or lessen?
expected swelling from tummy tuck
Oct 26, 2015
In general, I tell my patients that 50% of the swelling is gone at 6 weeks and that it takes 6 months for the majority of swelling to resolve. Be patient with your recovery. Swelling is an expected part of the healing process. Compression garments can help expedite your recovery.
Is it too risky to complete a TT, Lipo, BA and BBL at the same time?
how safe is it to combine multiple procedures
Oct 26, 2015
This is an excellent and very important question. Risk of surgery is significantly associated with surgical time and blood loss. In general, it is recommended to keep surgeries less than 6 hrs and less than 2 liters of liposuction when combined with other procedures. It is always better to do less and have a safe, excellent result than push the envelope and do to much sugary at once. That being said, most surgeons can perform the tummy tuck, breast augmentation and...
i need advice for wound dehiscence.
Postop course after tummy tuck
Oct 26, 2015
I am sorry that you are having to deal with a wound complication after your tummy tuck. Ultimately, you should heal fine with minimal impact to your ultimate outcome, but it will take some time for your wound to completely heal and you may need a scar revision down the road. From the pictures, it appears that you are taking good care of the wound, and it does not appear infected. Your surgeon has you on a medicine that is commonly used to treat wounds. I would...
Is it generally recommended that someone be at a normal weight before proceeding to have
chin liposuction
Oct 26, 2015
Liposuction to the chin area is an easy surgery to recover from and can make a significant difference in your appearance and self-confidence. Although liposuction is ideally performed when you are at your ideal weight, I perform the procedure in heavier patients who are trying to loose weight as it will greatly improve how you feel about your appearance. In my experience, the procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia, takes less than an hour to perform, and has...
Had arm lift (my R arm is much larger), PS said he will do a revision in office. Nervous
arm lift
Oct 26, 2015
It appears that your right arm has some excess skin, and that if this is removed, you will have a much more symmetrical outcome. The revision should not be that painful and should be easily performed in most office settings.
In what order should I do these procedures? BBL, TT, fat transfer to breast.
sequence for body contouring procedures
Oct 26, 2015
Every surgeon has a particular preference on how to sequence body contouring procedures, and there is no right or wrong answer. In my experience, it is hard to recover from a combined tummy tuck and buttock augmentation just due to postoperative positioning. Breast surgery and buttock augmentation or tummy tuck go well together. I would recommend thinking about the areas that bother you the most, and then seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns and...
I am currently a 34D and want to restore volume. Should I get implants? I don't want to
Breast Augmentation Outcomes
Oct 26, 2015
Breast implants are a great way to increase upper breast fullness. The size implants you are considering are on the conservative size and should not significantly increase your overall volume. It sounds like you had a very good consultation, but I would recommend revisiting with your surgeon if you have additional questions.
I had BL with existing implants 3 wks ago. 3 days ago I had stitches around nipples remo
breast lift recovery
Oct 26, 2015
You have a lot invested in this surgery and your outcome. Please call your surgeon and be evaluated. Without photos, I can not assess your healing.
Running and elliptical. How soon can I resume these activities?
activity after breast surgery
Oct 26, 2015
For most of my patients, I allow light cardio 3 weeks after surgery (light job, elliptical without arms, stationary bike). All activity without restrictions can resume at 6 weeks. However, I recommend consulting with your surgeon in case your surgery was more complicated and requires longer recovery.
Is it normal for scars of BR surgery to hurt after 2 months?
scars from breast reduction
Oct 26, 2015
I would recommend seeing your surgeon. Scars that are painful or itch can be a sign of hypertrophic scaring where a thicker scar develops. Early treatment gives the best result. Therefore, see your surgeon for an evaluation. He or she may consider silicone sheeting or steroid shots into the scar itself to help soften the tissue.
