Traditional Blepharoplasty Vs Laser Blepharoplasty for Eye Bags?
Laser assisted eyelid surgery
Sep 15, 2014
I have used both laser and traditional techniques (scalpel) to do upper and lower eyelid surgery. The laser sounds great but adds a lot of cost to the procedure as the technology is expensive. There are lots of misconceptions among patients regarding laser use. Let me sum up my feelings based on my experiences and those of others. The laser adds no clinical benefit when performing blepharoplasty surgery on the upper or lower eyelids. Bleeding is not reduced, incision size is the same,…
What Are the Requirements to Have Insurance Cover Blepharoplasty?
insurance coverage of eyelid surgery
Sep 15, 2014
In order for insurance companies to consider paying for eyelid surgery, they need to be convinced that the surgery is medically necessary, not just cosmetically necessary. To achieve that, we can submit a letter stating medical necessity based on salient parts of the exam, as well as high quality photographs that illustrate the problem areas to the reviewer. In addition, we will perform peripheral vision testing to demonstrate that the peripheral vision is improved with the lids raised….
How Can I Fix One Drooping Eye?
fixing one droopy eye
Sep 10, 2014
If your eyelid margin (where the lashes are) is lower on one side, that’s called ptosis (p is silent) and can be due to a variety of factors. A thorough eye exam will reveal the cause and the extent of the droopy lid and as long as the muscle that raises the lid is strong, the lid can be re-positioned surgically in an outpatient procedure called ptosis repair. This is best done by an oculoplastic surgeon who has specialized training in surgery of the eyelids.
How Much Does a Lower Eye Lift Cost?
cost of lower lid surgery
Sep 10, 2014
The cost of lower lid surgery is about $1000 per lid, and there may be additional costs like facility and anesthesia fees. This should be discussed with your surgeon before surgery.
Eyelid Surgery Recovery
recovery after eyelid surgery
Sep 10, 2014
I tell my patients that they can expect to be “black and blue” for 7-10 days. They all return to the office after one week to have the stitches removed, and their bruising, if still present, is generally very mild. They can return to work within a week as long as they’re not in the public eye, but they can certainly return to work after stitches have been removed.
How Much Does Eyelid Surgery Cost?
cost of eyelid surgery
Sep 10, 2014
Eyelid surgery for cosmetic purposes costs about $1000 per lid, with discounts often given when patients are doing all four lids at once. I suggest checking a practice’s website or calling the office to get more information. Other costs to consider may be anesthesia and facility costs, where applicable.
Droopy Eyelids – Alternatives to Eyelift Surgery?
Non surgical treatment of droopy lids
Sep 10, 2014
There are no good alternatives other than make up to try and improve lids that have excess skin, are droopy or have lots of puffiness to them (herniated fat). Eyelid surgery is the only option.
