How often has the shell of a silicone implant broke?
Treatment of Ruptured Silicone Implants
Feb 25, 2018
I agree that once diagnosed as ruptured, a silicone implant is best removed. The procedure is typically less involved than the original procedure and well tolerated in patients that are reasonably healthy. That being said, I have elected not to remove ruptured implants in elderly patients with significant medical issues, where the risks out weight the rewards. At 62, this is not likely your scenario. I would recommend having a candid discussion with a board certified plastic...
Do breast implants have a shelf life?
Do breast implants have a shelf life?
Feb 25, 2018
Silicone implant will likely remain intact for 10 to 20 years. However, the figures that are discussed are simply averages based on the degradation properties of the silicone shell that contains the gel. Quite often the implants "last" longer and there is no need to remove them or replace them simply because some arbitrary time has passed. If you have concerns over time whether the implant is still intact or not, and MRI may be obtained to best answer this question to help...
All I want is chin implant, and alarplasty and breast job I do not want rhinoplasty!
Combining Facial, Nasal and Breast Surgeries
Feb 25, 2018
The list of your desired procedures may very well be performed together, which has its advantages for obvious reasons. There is nothing cookie cutter about rhinoplasty and if your desire is to simply address the alar portion of your nose, this seems reasonable. However, a thorough examination is in order to confirm that this is the appropriate plan, by a board certified plastic surgeon that performs reasonable volumes of all of the procedures you mentioned.

Weight Loss Prior to Body Contouring Surgery
Feb 24, 2018
Congratulations on your accomplishments! I recommend being at a stable weight (not necessarily your pre-pregnancy weight) for a few months prior to entertaining body contouring surgery, as already mentioned. Your long term results will likely be better, more predictable any your surgery may require less liposuction and improve safety.

Best wishes!

Exercise and Upcoming Surgery
Feb 24, 2018
It is fine to exercise up until your surgery date. However, if you goal is to lose substantial weight in the process, I recommend achieving a stable weight prior to undergoing a body contouring procedure. That being said, most patients will not lose enough weight in just a few weeks to make much of a difference. Make sure you are eating high protein foods if you are dieting for you will need adequate protein levels to heal appropriately after surgery.
What would you suggest for my body type: Lipo or TT?
Tummy Tuck Vs Liposuction
Feb 24, 2018
Most likely you will require both liposuction and a tummy tuck, but this decision can only be arrived after a thorough evaluation by a board certified plastic surgeon. This will help determine how much skin and abdominal wall laxity you have. Liposuction, in general, will not tighten skin and will have no effect on improving abdominal wall laxity. Good luck!
Tuberous breasts? Currently 6 months pregnant and no change, should I consider an augmentation?
Tuberous Breasts and Recent Pregnancy
Feb 24, 2018
Thank you for your photos and question. Judging from your photos, you may have a mild form of tuberous breasts that can be treated with breast augmentation in the future. I would suggest waiting several months after delivering your child or after completion of breast feeding before considering surgery. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon closer to this time.

Best wishes!

What is the average recovery time of a tummy tuck?
Recovery Time After a Breast Augmentation
Feb 23, 2018
Following a full or standard tummy tuck (not a mini), most patients with "desk job" type employment typically take 2 weeks off from work. Jobs requiring heavy lifting or manual labor typically requires 6 weeks off from work. While I encourage early ambulation, patients may walk as much and as early as they feel comfortable. However, there should be no heavy lifting (anything over ten pounds), exercise or jogging for approximately 6 weeks. Therefore, I tell patients that full...
Mommy makeover? The stretch marks? 20 year old mother of one, 5’2, 129 planing on getting to 122
Mommie Makeover?
Feb 23, 2018
Judging from your photos, you would be an excellent candidate for a tummy tuck with some additional liposuction to the hips and back. This will nicely remove the stretch marks you have below the belly button and contour your abdomen to a flatter and tighter appearing tummy. When a tummy tuck is combined with additional breast surgery, we sometimes use the term "mommie makeover." The small amount of additional weight loss you are considering should not change the type of...

Unfortunately I would need more information about the nature of your "capitations" and photos to answer your question completely. Treatment may vary from targeted liposuction to fat grafting. You would also need approval from you orthopedic surgeon before proceeding. I would suggest an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to get a complete response.
Best wishes.

Thank you for your question. A standard (full) tummy tuck with additional liposuction to areas involving your back and hips would likely be the best option. Of course, an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is necessary for a complete evaluation and assessment of your medical history.
Can implants fix the asymmetry of my breasts?
Can implants fix the asymmetry of my breasts?
Nov 26, 2017
Certainly, different size implants will improve the volume/size differences between your two breasts and improve your asymmetry. However, you will continue to have some minor asymmetries from side to side regarding the shape of your breasts. There is no such thing as perfect symmetry or a mirror image from side to side both before or after surgery. It is advisable to review multiple before and after photos, critically, with your plastic surgeon to get a better idea as to...
I lost some weight and have developed little dog ears. Can exercise help me lose them?
I lost some weight and have developed little dog ears. Can exercise help me lose them?
Nov 26, 2017
Your question is a bit ambiguous for it is not clear to me if you have had prior surgery. Typically, the term "dog ears" refers to a combination of redundant skin and subcutaneous fat left behind at the ends of a surgically performed incision after it has healed. The characteristics of a dog ear change with weight loss as this may result in less subcutaneous fat and more skin laxity. In general, exercise will not improve this for exercise will not tone loose skin, only...
Is there any reason why liposuction could not be done on the arms at the same time as a brachiop
Is there any reason why liposuction could not be done on the arms at the same time as a brachioplasty?
Nov 26, 2017
No, there shouldn't be. Liposuction is routinely performed when indicated as an adjunct to brachioplasty.
Are 500cc implants too big for my body? I weigh 121lbs and am 5’4.
Implant Sizing
Nov 24, 2017
Thank you for your question. First, what is considered "natural" or "proportionate" is highly subjective. Also, bra cup sizes are basically a clothing measurement and vary from brand to brand. Most women know that a C cup at Victoria's Secret is not the same C cup at JC Penny.
The end size result will be a combination of the implant size plus how much native breast tissue you have. For patients that are thin, with a narrow base width across the...
