Are drains necessary for lipo of the back?
No drains needed
Jan 22, 2021
Ordinarily, we do not use drains for liposuction surgery. This would include the back or any other area you have reduced. The tissues are capable of absorbing any fluid present after the surgery. It always helps to use an elastic garment for compression on the area operated after your surgery. This also reduces the amount of bleeding after surgery and is standard protocol with modern liposuction.

We used to use drains when I first started doing liposuction 37 years ago, but I haven’t used…

What would you recommend to correct my issue?
Options for your Breasts
Jan 22, 2021
Your best option would depend on a few factors. Are the implants over or under the muscles? Are the breasts soft, or is one or both getting firm? Has the shape changed over time, or have they always looked this way since your implant surgery? If the implants are under the muscles, does the motion in the breasts when you flex the muscles bother you?

Your options would include:
1. Take the implants out from under the muscles and put them on top. This tends to fill out the lower pole very…

Is it safe to fly (5 hours) and be in a swimsuit most of the day 3 weeks after liposuction?
Vacation Expectations after Liposuction
Dec 22, 2020
The answer to your question depends on a few factors. How many areas were treated? What volume was extracted?

In general, it should be OK to travel, but the risk of blood clots from your surgery still isn’t gone away after only 3 weeks. So, you need to rotate your ankles while sitting, and try to stand up and walk up and down the isles as often as possible.

You should keep all the scars out of any direct sun exposure for at least 4 months after your surgery. Those little scars cannot…

I was wondering if I could get some more opinions on how to fix my abdomen?
Refined Lipo with Fat Transfer
Aug 17, 2020
As others have said, the problem seems to be the irregularity of the fat distribution under the skin, and not a laxity of skin. The solution is to change the way the fat is distributed through either liposhifting, or a refined liposuction with very small cannulas together with transfer of some of the excess fat into the areas of depression. This is a relatively complex problem and the surgery to make it better may take more time than a simple one-area liposuction. Also, because not all the…
Would I qualify for liposuction?
It depends on what you mean by “qualify.”
May 21, 2019
What is your goal? Liposuction is designed to change the way body fat is proportioned, and the effect is permanent. If the goal is to make a nearly perfect body ABSOLUTELY perfect, you may be disappointed by the outcome since no surgeon can guarantee a perfect outcome. Careful and precise liposuction often produces results that are extremely good and patient satisfaction rates are high. But your expectation going into the surgery will largely determine how satisfied you are with the result….

Qualification for a Breast Lift
May 7, 2019
It is difficult to say what surgery you might need without seeing a photo of your breasts. Are you interested in more volume? If so, how much larger would you like to be? If you were to place a pencil under the breast in the fold and look in a mirror, would the nipple be above or below the pencil? In general, if the nipple isn’t below the pencil, then adequate lifting can achieved with only adding volume. But if the nipples are below the folds under the breasts, then even with adding volume,…
Liposuction Recovery
Recovery and Average Down Time for Lipsuction
Aug 22, 2017
Liposuction as a stand alone treatment is a relatively quick recovery. Depending on the area and how much fat is removed, our patients are returning back to work in a little as 5 days. However, each person and situation is different and it can vary person to person.Best,Dr. David Clayton

With all of the unknowns of your specific situation and not being able to see you in person, an accurate quote is challenging. However, I do offer a price adjustment for multiple liposuction areas being treated. The most important thing is that you feel that you and your surgeon are on the same page with the surgical plan and you are realistic about the outcome and maintenance following this type of procedure.Best,Dr. David Clayton
Pubic area got fat after appendix removal. How am I going to get rid of this?
The swelling will go down
Aug 22, 2017
5 days following an appendectomy it is normal to see swelling. It should go down in the next 6-12 weeks and improve with time.Best,Dr. David Clayton

Mommy Makeover – Recovery Times
Aug 22, 2017
They can be combined in theory, but I wouldn’t recommend it because the risk of complications is much higher. I would perform these surgeries separately and the recovery times would be as follows: Breast Lift with Implants 3-4 weeks recovery and the 360 Tummy Tuck with Fleur-de-Liz 6-8 weeks recovery time.

How long after smart lipo can I get back into my regular gym routine?
Be Careful of Complacency
Oct 20, 2016
The problem I found after having liposuction myself around the middle was a feeling of complacency – I wasn’t as motivated by the appearance of the “problem” areas because they were GONE, never to return. Being motivated to exercise is a WONDERFUL thing, but do it for other reasons besides the desire to “get rid of a problem area” after you have had liposuction. Technically, you can exercise as soon as you feel up to the task. Tissues that have undergone liposuction will feel a little s…
Can Sheerwave RF Cavitation Significantly Reduce Stomach Fat?
Results are NOT permanent
Aug 4, 2013
Treatments with ultrasound can disrupt fat cell membranes, or make them “leaky” so that the contents of the cells leak out, but they do not reduce the overall number of fat cells living in that area. Liposuction is one of the ONLY ways to remove the excess fat cells, resulting in a permanent improvement in the contour. As the first doctor in Utah to do liposuction, I have seen various forms of fat reduction come and go. Carefully done liposuction, using very small cannulas remains the Gold…
Edge of Implant Feels Like a Squishy Bump on Side of Breast
Likely cause of the “Squishy Bump”
Apr 15, 2011
The most likely cause for the "squishy bump" you have described is a small fold in the surface of your implant. The point at which the fold ends usually feels like a "corner". It is not dangerous, but can be annoying if it becomes visible.

A common cause for a fold to develop in the implant is scar contracture, e.g., the thin layer of scar tissue that surrounds the implant may have contracted or shrunk, squeezing gently on the implant. Such folds may or may not…

How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?
The Least Expensive Breast Lift
Sep 25, 2010
"The least expensive breast lift is the one done right the first time"

1. Make sure your surgeon is certified by a REAL board – the American Board of Plastic Surgery

2. A great way to get a good referral is to call your local major hospital and ask to be connected to the Operating Room. Then ask one of the operating room nurses, or – better yet – one of the anesthesiologists, which plastic surgeon they would send their family member to. The O.R. nurses and anesthesiologists…

Are my Sutures from my Recent Breast Lift/Aug Surgery Normal?
Your Sutures May Be OK
Sep 25, 2010
The photo shows tape going between the breasts. Are you sure that the stitches do too? Suturing all the way between the breasts is very unusual unless you were extremely saggy before surgery. Almost always, the stitches will end before reaching the midline.

Hope that helps.
