Are dog ears typical for tummy tuck?
Dog ears
Aug 31, 2017
Dog ears are pretty typical with tummy tuck/lipoabdominoplasty surgery. Dog ears are also very easy to revise and should be part of the original cost of the surgery. Usually the dog ears can be revised under local anesthesia after about 6mths to a year of recovery. I wait at least 6 months to a year because they can flatten out on there own. Hope this answers your question.

It is important that you get in for a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. The surgeon will most likely recommend bilateral implant removal and a possible implant holiday depending on what the breast pocket and capsule look like inside. Usually, when a patient has a deflated implant, I attempt to have the implants removed immediately because the longer a deflated implant sits the more chance for bacteria. Hope this helps and good luck with your procedure.

Recommendations for finding the right surgeon
Aug 31, 2017
It is very important that your plastic surgeon is board certified in plastic surgery so great job on that! You can definitely look at a variety of review sites to give you an idea of how happy patients are with this doctor. Good questions to ask your surgeon is how long has the surgeon been in practice, any malpractice claims, schooling, how many breast augmentations does the surgeon do per year and preferred technique. Also, the surgeons office should be able to provide current...
I experience eyelid redness and itching with both Latisse and Revitalash.
Eyelash extensions
Nov 1, 2016
Many patients complain of red, itchy eyes when using Latisse. Not using Latisse everyday can help decrease these symptoms. Another alternative for long, fuller eyelashes is eyelash extensions. Maintenance is required every 4-6wks but our patients have been extremely pleased with their results.
I want to fly to Florida from Chicago for a Tummy tuck, would I be able to fly home after doing that?
Traveling after surgery
May 18, 2016
Many of my patients travel from out of state to have surgery.  Normally I recommend my patients to stay in town for 2wks after a lipoabdominoplasty.  I recommend this amount of time so that I can monitor their recovery closely.  Also, there are usually drains involved with this type of surgery that take at least 5 days before being taken out and sutures are not removed until 12 days.  If a patient needs to return to home after a week then we make sure that a doctor in their area is will...
What kind of tummy tuck would you recommend me?
Lipoabdominoplasty
May 18, 2016
Thank you for your question.  From your photos it appears that you are a perfect candidate for a lipoabdominoplasty (tummy tuck).  With the lipoabdominoplasty, I incorporate liposuction to ensure symmetry from front to back.
Do I have to lose weight before I get Liposuction?
Weight and Liposuction
Apr 21, 2016
I try to have my patients get as close to their ideal weight before having liposuction.  Once they get to their ideal weight I will see what they are a candidate for to achieve the best results.  Liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss.  Hope this helps.

I always welcome patients to come back for yearly follow ups.  Definitely schedule an appointment with your original surgeon to discuss your concerns.
Armpit incision?
Transaxillary approach with silicone
Apr 14, 2016
Majority of my patients want silicone and if they are a candidate for the transaxillary approach then that is the incision that I use.  The Keller Funnel is a wonderful tool that is a more sterile technique and keeps the incision small allowing silicone to go through the armpit very easily.

When you have your implants removed, the surgeon will be able to tell you who the manufacturer is and they can help you with the warranty claim.  By you already calling the three companies, a claim has been started.  Once your surgeon finds out the company, it should be a pretty easy process.  Good luck to you!
Could I have a possible infection or hematoma?
Status Post Breast Augmentation
Mar 29, 2016
Significant changes in breast size can definitely be an issue.  Contact your surgeon immediately.  I usually have my patients wrap their breasts with an ace bandage to compress while they are in transit to the office.  Good luck.
Being my first augmentation, I'm just confused. Should I massage?
Massage or not?
Mar 29, 2016
Great question.  Always refer to your surgeon on whether or not he/she wants you to massage your breasts because every surgeon is different.

Your plastic surgeon is the one that you should refer to for proper treatment.  I have found that therapeutic ultrasounds help and stretching the specific area.
Is travel safe for a tummy tuck procedure?

Feb 18, 2016
Typically, I have my patients that are coming from out of town and having a lipoabdominoplasty stay in town for 12-14 days.  I will see them during that time frame about 4-6 visits.  Thank you for question.
When getting liposuction how long do you have to keep the drains in?
Drains with liposuction
Feb 17, 2016
If drains are used the amount of time is about 5 days depending on the amount of drainage.  Definitely, discuss with your plastic surgeon his/her protocol with drains and liposuction.
