I have a reaction in inner thigh from VenaSeal. I’m taking prednisone and using a heating pad, how long
Reaction from Venaseal
Oct 3, 2022
Usually days to weeks but can certainly take much longer. Please see your provider for follow up until complete resolution !!
Varicose Veins and VenaSeal: Is this better than other varicose vein treatments?
Venaseal
Oct 3, 2022
This particular adhesive has long been used to treat variety of vascular conditions with excellent safety profile. But one should consider other options (such as Radiofrequency or laser ablation) if not comfortable with possible complications.
What should someone ask a doctor about VenaSeal?
Venaseal for Me ??
Oct 3, 2022
Questions you should ask, (1) Is it available ?(2) Am I a candidate ? (3) What if I have reaction(s) after Venaseal treatment ? Do you pre-treat ??(4) Risks and benefits ?
I’ve seen the new treatment called venaseal. Is it for spider veins too?
Venaseal is Not for Spider veins !!
Oct 3, 2022
Venaseal is nonthermal ablation technique of saphenous veins only !!! One thing I would like to add is that you will benefit from consultation with an experienced and properly trained provider for your leg. You will most likely have venous insufficiency and may require thermal ablations of saphenous veins first !!
What is the best treatment for recurring varicose vein?
Best Treatment ??
Oct 3, 2022
Please consult a properly trained provider and have US evaluation for proper treatment. US will show that you may need ablation of saphenous veins first then have phlebectomy or sclerotherapy.
What can I expect after 5-10 years? I’m 50 now.
5-10 years from today
Oct 3, 2022
Venous insufficiency is a progressive disease and will cause your symptoms and appearance worse over time. The rate of progression is unpredictable bur certainly worse when you need to stand for long time. You can certainly wear medical grade compression stockings to relieve symptoms somewhat.
Should I ask the doctor to count the second treatment as a retreat and not charge me?
It is a “retreat” but..
Oct 3, 2022
The technical success rate of thermal ablation procedures is roughly 95%. That means previously ablated saphenous veins will re-open 5% of the time even with experienced provider and will require an additional procedure. It certainly is a “retreat” but should not be considered as a free “retreat”.
