Answer Snippet
How can this bleph surgery be corrected, please?
Ensure ocular protection and review
Jan 23, 2019
Protecting the surface of the eye is the priority as if the ocular surface dries, it can become damaged and compromise vision. If your surgeon was an Oculoplastic/Ophthalmic specialist then they should be able to advise about this, other wise it would be worth consulting one regarding the ocular surface. Lubricants would be worth taking and perhaps try taping the eyelids shut at night to protect the eyes. The eyelid surgery looks to have been done recently given the bruising….
Do I have ptosis?
No – there is a difference in pretarsal show.
Jan 23, 2019
Hi John, Your eyelid height appears symmetrical. The upper lid show is slightly asymmetrical and this is to do with the amount of excess upper lid skin. The difference is minimal but ptosis surgery would not correct this. A small blepharoplasty may work on one side to balance the pretarsal show. All the best. Neil
I am considering blepharoplasty to upper eyelids. What is the average recovery time?
Very little downtime.
Jan 11, 2019
The recovery time is around a week to return to normal activities and around 2 for most bruising to settle. You do have excess upper eyelid skin and would be a good candidate for blepharoplasty. Prices vary considerably but you need to be happy with whoever you choose and certainly being local is important as aftercare is an important part of surgery.
6.5 months post op lower blepharoplasty, what can I do to make swollen pockets of fluid/bruising go awa
Unlikely to be bruising so long after procedure
Sep 16, 2018
I am sorry for the trouble you are having. It would be very unlikely to be bruising this long after the operation. Swelling is possible if it fluctuates and changes with time of day. More likely is that there is excess fat in this area, perhaps excess tissue moved during fat draping. Photos would be useful but most importantly, you need so see your surgeon to review this as it can be fixed.
How long after Botox will you know if your eye lid will droop?
By day 15 you would ave reached the peak effect of your Botox.
Sep 16, 2018
Thank you for your question. By 2 weeks you would certainly have reached the peak effect of your Botox treatment and any complications would have become apparent.
I hope you had the desired effect and for the future, it is useful to keep a log of the dose and effect to help tailor future treatments.
How Long Before Botox Results Can Be Seen?
3-5 days onset with peak activity at 2 weeks. Duration 3-4 months.
Sep 10, 2018
Usually, patients see the results of Botox within 3-5 days. A similar product, Dysport typically works 1-2 days earlier. The full effect is seen within 2 weeks.
There is no limit to how long one can keep having it – the medical evidence goes back 20 years. It does wear off over 3-4 months and the exact duration for repeat injection can be varied depending on how much function you are happy to see return.
Is this ptosis and could Botox fix it or is surgery required?
Greater tarsal show on the left is main cause of asymmetry
Sep 9, 2018
There is possibly a very subtle ptosis but the greatest difference between the two is the left tarsal show being greater than the right.
A dynamic examination (rather than a static photograph) would be useful as I suspect you have slight right frontalis muscle overaction and raised brow due to increase skin on the right upper lid – causing reduced tarsal show and hence asymmetry.
It would be most useful to see an Oculoplastic surgeon and discuss ptosis surgery or blepharoplasty…
