Septal extension graft removal. How can I get a natural look and feel again?
Rhinoplasty
Nov 18, 2023
Thank you for your question. Generally, in revision rhinoplasty cartilage grafts that are placed may be removed. It will be important to speak with your rhinoplasty surgeon the effects of potentially removing the graft and other maneuvers as well, and also to preserve function/breathing.
4 month post op rhinoplasty and I having problems with my turbulence
Rhinoplasty
Nov 8, 2023
Thank you for your question. It is important to have an examination inside the nose to see if there may be a cause of breathing difficulty before or after surgery.
I'm having difficulty breathing after my rhinoplasty. What should I do?
Rhinoplasty
Nov 1, 2023
Function and aesthetic go hand in hand for the nose. It is always important to maintain breathing with rhinoplasty and there are aspects of the procedure that are important to review with your rhinoplasty specialist..
Is it important to have a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon?
Board certification
Nov 1, 2023
Agree. There are only approximately 20 member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Plastic Surgery is one of those member boards and indicates a standard period of training, examinations, and continued certification process....
Face and neck lift - is it possible the muscle was damaged or cut too short?
Necklift
Sep 24, 2023
Thank you for your question. Generally, scarring can be a cause of neck tightness after surgery.. Regarding the treatment of the muscle it would depend on what procedures were performed and I would advise patients to check with your physicians about continued scar treatment, possible physical therapy to the area..
How to approach doctor about placing nipples too high?
Breast surgery
Sep 16, 2023
Thank you for the question. I would encourage speaking to your board certified plastic surgeon about your concerns. Generally, I would keep in mind that regardless of where the nipple appears after surgery, that over time with gravity the soft tissues of the breast may descend causing the nipple to look in a 'different' location over time... all the best
DCF, Rib Cartilage Onlay or the new “Push-up” technique?
Rhinoplasty
Sep 10, 2023
Thank you for the question. Yes, removal of a prior silicone implant and replacement with rib cartilage for adding projection/volume to the bridge of the nose is possible in certain cases. In these cases I review with the patient the size of the silicone implant, etc and complete medical/surgical history in planning. I would consult with a rhinoplasty surgeon who is experienced in this area..
What would be the best treatment for sagging neck and face jowls? Tightening that skin up and impr
Necklift
Sep 10, 2023
Thank you for the question. In treating the neck area there are a range of treatments from more noninvasive techniques such as injectables and energy based devices which may take more treatments and time versus a surgical procedure that removes fat and tightens the muscle. Generally speaking, surgery will likely have a more significant effect sooner, but does require a procedure.. I would consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for options...
What can be done for my alar retraction?
Rhinoplasty
Jul 16, 2023
Great question. Typically for patients with alar retraction it is important to understand prior procedures in planning for future treatments of the area. Those potential treatments could include cartilage grafts or other maneuvers...
Age, 28, is the dent in tip of my nose normal?
Rhinoplasty
Jul 4, 2023
Great question.. over time the soft tissues of the face/nose change and may become thinner which starts to 'show' aspects of the cartilage.. it also depends on whether or not there has been prior surgery in the area..
Nose still swollen 15 months post septorhinoplasty, how long can it take to look normal?
Rhinoplasty
Jul 2, 2023
Great questions. I would check with your rhinoplasty surgeon about the healing phase and potential additional strategies for helping with swelling, and seeing if it is in a particular area...
Sides of nose swollen & tip very swollen 8 month post-op, will this reduce in next few months? (Ph
Rhinoplasty
Jun 18, 2023
Indeed, following nose surgery swelling may remain present for a year or longer. I would ask your rhinoplasty surgeon for additional thoughts...
Is neck lift scar revision after cortisone shots too soon at 9 months post-op?
Necklift
May 7, 2023
Great question. Depending on the case, sometimes a necklift scar revision may occur sooner than a year and a half. I would continue to talk to your surgeon... all the best
Is it normal for your doctor to ask you to send pictures before your consultation?
Photography
Apr 27, 2023
Great question. With telehealth appointments now very common given the recent several years many practitioners now offer various forms of virtual appointments that may involve the plastic surgeon, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. One suggestion is asking for a chaperone during the photography or simply asking not to be photographed at the time... there is still value receiving information during the visit..
Is it possible to set a date for surgery after only a virtual consultation?
Rhinoplasty
Mar 4, 2023
Great question-- often times patients not only wish to change the appearance of the nose and also breathe better. For patients who also have interest in breathing (functional) procedures it is key to have an in person examination to have your surgeon examine the inside of the nose, but even in patients who wish to only have a cosmetic (external) procedure I believe that an internal nasal examination is a key component of the examination..
