An allergic reaction should not affect the result of a rhinoplasty, normally after this type of surgery, your body will have inflammation, what we call postoperative edema, most of it will be gone in about a month, however some patients will have residual edema for over 6 months.Most likely the changes you are noticing are the changes related to your surgery, and definitively you need to talk to your surgeon, hopefully a board certified plastic surgeon

The most important factor in obtaining a good result from your cosmetic surgery, is the surgeon you choose to perform it. Now that the surgery is done, you need to listen to your surgeon, if you elected a board certified surgeon ( in plastic surgery or facial plastic surgery) he will be able to continue with your care and formulate a plan to give you the best possible result.Usually, you need to allow your body to completely heal before thinking about performing a revision surgery.

Bruising is normal after surgery, however you need to be sure you discuss with your surgeon, and probably you need to be examined ASAP, I normally see my patients 3-5 days after surgery to be sure everything is going well during the postoperative period, I also instruct my patients to call me, with any concerns.Be sure you discuss this and any concerns with your surgeon

Most surgeons recommend to be careful during the postoperative period to include about 8 weeks.I personally tell patients no to sit at all for two weeks, then to sit very limited amount of time, with the use of a special pillow, for 2 weeks, then continue with limited amount for another 4 weeks, and to listen to their body, if tenderness is present while sitting, they need to limit the time,Be sure you talk to your surgeon and listen to their recommendations.

I usually tell my patients to keep the paper tape for a month, they need to change it, every 5-7 days, then I recommend scar gels.Tape provides a gentle compression and also some extra support, this has been shown to help with the quality of the scars.
