After serving three years in the U.S. Navy, he later completed his general surgery residency at the University Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida and trained in plastic and cosmetic surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center and the Charlotte Plastic Surgery Center in North Carolina. There, he became an expert in state-of-the-art technology and techniques, including endoscopic surgery and laser surgery.
